Funding
Surrey students can receive financial support to enable access to a wide range of activities including student exchanges, work and research placements and summer programmes. International mobility grants and bursaries are available as well as financial support from Student Finance.
Turing Scheme
The Turing Scheme is the UK government’s global programme to study and work abroad. The scheme provides funding for international opportunities in education and training across the world. Students at all levels of study can apply for Turing grant funding through the University of Surrey to take up study exchanges and work placements abroad of between 14 days to 12-months in the academic year, from 1 September to 31 August. The Turing Scheme provides grants which do not need to be paid back by students.
The University of Surrey has been successful in being awarded Turing funding for the sixth consecutive year for 2026/27.
The Department for Education have confirmed that the Turing Scheme will not be operating in the 2027 to 2028 academic year, when Erasmus+ placements begin. From 2027 UK providers will be able to seek funding for international placements through Erasmus+, the European Union’s flagship education exchange and partnerships programme.
