Alternative formats

Alternative formats is a tool to transfer files, e.g. PDFs, Word etc. in SurreyLearn modules into other formats.

If the file is a scanned PDF, you can use alternative formats to create and download a file with OCR (optical character recognition). This will enable searching and highlighting of text.

If you're accessing a PDF on your phone or other mobile device, download it in HTML format, which will enable a more responsive file for the size of your screen, making it easier to read the text.

Some files can be downloaded as 'Tagged' PDFs (for navigation by screen reader), audio (mp3), electronic Braille or ePub for e-book readers.
