Ask a student

The University runs a number of schemes where students are supporting other students on a range of topics.

Take a look at all of our peer support services below.

If you are interested in supporting other students and would like to get involved in any of the opportunities then get in touch using the contact details provided.

Nightline

Run by the Students’ Union.

Nightline is a listening service for students, run by trained student volunteers. You can call, message or email us to talk about any problem, ask a few questions, or get something off your chest. Nightline is confidential and anonymous, so you don't have to tell us anything about yourself, not even your name. The content of the call never leaves Nightline.

Visit the Nightline information on the Students' Union website

Wellbeing Champions

Run by the Students' Union.

If you are part of a sports club or society then you will have a dedicated Wellbeing Champion who you can speak to about any wellbeing or welfare concerns that you have, both related to your club or society or yourself.

If you are not sure who your Wellbeing Champion is, then get in touch with your VP Activity

Professional Training Coaching Scheme

Run by Employability and Careers.

The Professional Training Coaching Scheme connects students returning from their Professional Training year with students preparing for Professional Training.

Coaches are there to give you friendly support and advice and to prepare you for the world of work.

Course Reps

Run by the Students’ Union.

A course representative, or course rep for short, is an elected student who volunteers for the Students’ Union and the University to encourage students to provide feedback on their student and learning experience.

Find out more about Course Reps and get in touch, or visit MySurrey Voice to raise issues with your course reps online.

Bereavement Support Group

Run by the Students’ Union and Chaplaincy.

A once-a-week safe and confidential space to talk and express your emotions about any bereavement that you may have experienced. A small group that is facilitated by the Chaplaincy in a pastoral manner but with no religious connection or connotations.

Contact your VP Support for more information, or you can book upcoming in-person and online sessions online now.
