Re-assessments

Find out more about the re-assessment procedures.

How it works

You cannot re-sit a unit of assessment that you have passed.

If you fail a unit of assessment within a module, and the module is failed overall, you will be allowed one re-assessment of the failed unit which will take place at the appropriate re-assessment period. If you fail the module overall at the second attempt and you are not entitled to compensation your programme of study will be terminated.

If you fail more than 60 credits you are required to suspend your studies and retake the failed assessments during the next academic year (normally with attendance at lectures, tutorials, etc).

Upon successful completion of the reassessed unit, the mark is capped at the following University pass marks:

  • Foundation year studies (FHEQ Level 3 modules) â€“ 50%
  • Undergraduate (FHEQ Level 4, 5 and 6 modules) – 40%
  • BVMSci Veterinary Medicine and Science (FHEQ Level 4, 5, 6 and 7 modules) â€“ 50%
  • Postgraduate taught (FHEQ Level 7 modules) – 50%

If you fail your reassessment, you will be awarded the higher mark of the two attempts.

Examinations and assignment deadlines

Examinations for re-assessments are timetabled in the same way as normal examinations.

For re-submission assignments, you will be informed of the deadline for each piece of work. Where the original form of assessment is not practical, an alternative form may be used.
