Assistive technology

A range of equipment and software is available to assist with your individual study needs. This section covers assisted listening using MobileConnect and induction loops.

There are two types of assisted listening facilities available at the University, these are induction loops and Sennheiser MobileConnect.

The induction loop systems provide assisted listening by transmitting audio to a hearing aid when in the T position.

The Sennheiser MobileConnect enables assisted listening from your smartphone and is available in a number of locations to allow lectures to be transmitted over Wi-fi in real-time and in high quality to mobile devices and smartphones.

To access a live stream you simply need to download and install the free MobileConnect app (available for iOS and Android) and connect to the appropriate room's assisted listening network on your device.

The system is compatible with:

  • Hearing aids
  • Cochlea implants
  • Headphones.
