PC labs and facilities

You have access to a range of IT labs, services and facilities across the University campus, including a number of open access computer rooms which are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Available labs and facilities

The University provides hundreds of PCs in IT labs located across campus running Windows 10, Mac and Linux operating systems; a wide range of software using Surrey App Store and printing facilities outside the labs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Find a PC or lab

Visit the PC Finder to view live updates on available PCs, location, printing facilities, opening times and operating systems.

There are five open-access PC labs situated on the ground floor of the Austin Pearce (AP) building on Stag Hill campus:

  • Lab 1 is always open for students 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Lab 2, 3, 4 and 5 all have digital projectors, can be booked out for teaching and can have specialist software installed at the request of lecturers.

Timetables with availability of each lab are also displayed on the door next to each lab.

Magnifier is a tool that enlarges all or part of your screen so you can see words and images better. It comes with a few different settings, so use it the way that suits you best.

PC lab guidance

Please follow this guidance when using University PC labs:

  • All activity in the PC labs is subject to the terms and conditions available.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the labs (except bottled water)
  • Please do not leave your computer logged on and unattended for any period
  • Please do not unplug cables, or switch off computers
  • You must not connect your own computer to the wired network in the computer labs - this is against the IT Acceptable Use Policy. If you require access to the internet please use the Eduroam Wi-Fi service.
