Internships

Considering an internship? We've got a range of resources to help you find the perfect role and to help you make the most of the opportunity.

What is an internship?

An internship is a period of work experience that could last anywhere between a few weeks and a few months. An internship is undertaken by students and graduates. It provides them with the opportunity to gain new skills and experience in a role and/or sector they want to get into. Internships vary in nature, with some asking you to shadow existing staff and others asking you to oversee tasks or projects.

Differences between internships and placements

Most internships are undertaken over the summer holidays or after graduation whilst placements are likely to be embedded in a four-year degree course and are yearlong. Students on placement year are completing a module and receive academic credit for the year.
