The Sir Ronald Wates is our very own JD Wetherspoon pub on our Stag Hill campus, offering the usual great value range of food and drink that you would expect to find in any of their pubs across the UK, plus a big screen TV for live sport throughout the year.
Wates House to be transformed into JD Wetherspoon
The University is delighted to announce that we will be welcoming JD Wetherspoon to campus this academic year, giving you access to their great value food and drink offering right here on the Stag Hill campus.
Opening hours
The Sir Ronald Wates will open in July 2026. We will confirm the exact date here shortly.
In the meantime, The Hideout is open between 3 - 9pm, Monday to Friday, for evening drinks.
What we offer
Wetherspoon’s menus offer something for every taste. However, it is not just choice and variety which are important – a key priority is the quality of the food offered.
We are committed to sourcing the best-quality ingredients, with menus which offer an enticing mix of traditional British meals, including regional dishes, along with popular and innovative international dishes.
A breakfast menu is also served from 8am until noon, seven days a week, with a range of tea, coffee and hot chocolate drinks, including free refills*(on tea and coffee), all day every day - the perfect spot to get fuelled for a fully day of lectures.
