There are a number of things you can do to prepare to return to university following a period of temporary withdrawal.
Firstly, you should ensure you have student finance in place if needed. If you return in a new academic year, you will need to reapply for student finance. Contact the Money Support team for advice and support if you have any questions.
You will also need to apply for any university owned accommodation within any published deadlines so please visit our accommodation page for more information and monitor this page so you are aware of application deadlines and availability. You can contact the Accommodation team if you have any questions or need advice. The Students’ Union can also assist with housing advice and renting in the private sector. If you are looking for flatmates or to for a room in a shared house you can use our Find a Flatmate Teams Channel.
If you are an international student, you will need to apply for a new visa with a new Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) before resuming your course
Finally, to prepare yourself for returning to academic study, you should contact your personal tutor within the first two weeks of your return – your personal tutor will not have changed during the withdrawal period but if you are unsure contact the MySurrey Hive team via Surrey Support who will be able to confirm. It is also worth also taking the time to revisit the resources and support available via the Library and the My Learning Development at Surrey modules on SurreyLearn. Here, you will also find links to meet with the Academic Skills and Development team and/or Maths and Statistics Advice team, who can offer advice and guidance on developing your academic or numerical skills either by attending a drop-in session or booking an appointment.
Further support can be accessed from the Centre for Wellbeing and if you are registered with the Disability and Neuroinclusion service you can contact them directly via email or call them on 01483 689609 to discuss how they can best support you.
