Parking

Parking at the University is limited however we are committed to helping provide cost-effective transport alternatives to cars whenever possible.

Hire a car

We offer an hourly, self-service rental scheme for students on Stag Hill and Manor Park. The scheme has been introduced in partnership with Enterprise Car Club.

How the scheme works

A vehicle is located at each site and member students can hire these cars for private use 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Joining the Car Club will also give you access to other Enterprise Car Club vehicles in Guildford and nearly 950 others nationwide.

Signing up

  1. Complete the online form for Enterprise Car Club.
  2. Enter quote code STUS30 when applying online to redeem a £30 discount on either the value of membership or as driving credit (depending on the membership plan you select).
  3. Complete an online licence check once you receive an email prompting you to do so.
  4. You will then be issued with a membership pack, complete with your membership card and some handy information to get you started.

Find out more about the Car Club or if you have any questions, you can contact Enterprise on +44 (0)3452 669290.

Car share

Car sharing schemes offer a way of helping people travel more sustainably by sharing journeys.

The national Liftshare network links together drivers (and passengers) so that they can share their journeys.

If you would like to car share, register your details for free on the Liftshare database. The database will search for potential car sharers in your area using your preferences.

Sharing with someone who doesn't study at the University

Car sharing with a friend who doesn't study at the University would not reduce the number of cars on site and so you cannot apply for a University car share permit. However, you could still car share as a way of sharing fuel costs and lowering wear and tear on your vehicle.

Safety tips

If you find a sharer from within the University you may already be acquainted with your new car companion or can easily make contact. If you are using the national Liftshare network, their website is as secure as it can be. All your details are stored securely in the database and only your intended travel information can be accessed by others.

Please be aware that you are responsible for your own safety at all times. We recommend you follow some simple security measures, such as those outlined below:

  • Avoid exchanging home addresses with your travelling companion before you meet them
  • Arrange to meet for the first time in a public place
  • Inform a friend or family member of who you will be travelling with, when and to where
  • Make sure you see each other's IDs - passports, student cards or driving licences - so you know you're travelling with the right person
  • You are under no obligation to go ahead with any car share arrangement. If you have any doubts about your travelling companion, for any reason, then you don't have to travel with them.

It is your responsibility to check that the person you are sharing with has all the legal driving documents, such as driving licence, car insurance, MOT and car tax.
