The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) 2025

This year’s PRES will go live the week beginning Monday 7th April 2025, and we are inviting all of our postgraduate researchers (PGRs) to complete the survey.
PRES provides an opportunity for our postgraduate researchers to reflect on their experience and share their views with the University.
In response to the survey, every school creates their own Action Plan based on the feedback we receive. This feedback and corresponding Actions Plans ensure we can deliver the best research experience to all our PGRs.
How did we do in 2023?
We now take part in the PRES every other year. In the last survey, which took place in 2023, the University achieved an overall satisfaction score of 76.1%, with 92.4% responding positively to their experiences at Surrey.
2023 respondents noted that University staff “are amazing and supportive”, and they feel immersed “in an environment where I can engage with academics who are experts in these areas”.
Key things you need to know about this year’s survey
PRES 2025 runs betweem Monday 7 April - Friday 16 May 2025.
You will receive an email on Monday 7 April with your unique link to the survey, with reminders sent throughout the completion period.
The survey is open to all postgraduate researchers currently enrolled on award-bearing programmes at the University.
Everyone who completes the survey will have the choice of receiving a £5 Amazon voucher, or the option for the University to donate £5 to the Student Hardship Fund on their behalf.
