Contact friends and family
Call or email home to let your family and friends know you have arrived safely.
Collect your keys
Collect your keys from your Reception and locate your accommodation as directed in your accommodation confirmation email. There will be support staff, student ambassadors and free minibuses on campus to help you find your room.
If you didn't bring bedding or were unable to purchase a bedding pack on our online store, you will be able to pick one up at your accommodation reception. The cost will be added to your first accommodation invoice.
How to move into accommodationReceive and access your eVisa
BRPs (biometric residence permits) are no longer being produced so you will receive a digital immigration status known as an "eVisa” instead.
When you receive your visa decision, you will receive instructions on how to register your UKVI account to access your eVisa and use it to prove your immigration status.
We have some useful information on how to update your current visa to an eVisa over on MySurrey Help.

Find out moreRegister with a GP
Those applying for a Student visa can register online with a local doctor (a ‘GP’) before you arrive to save time. The health surcharge you paid with your visa application entitles you to the same NHS health care as UK residents. Other students (Visitors) should only register with a GP if you need treatment. Any students with an existing medical condition should book a phone appointment with a local GP for your first week at Surrey.

Open a UK bank account
If you haven't done so already, set up a UK bank account online or in person in one of the local banks in Guildford (exchange and study abroad students should consider setting up an online bank account before travelling to the UK to avoid currency conversion fees). Please be aware that the University is a “Cash-Free Campus” so, for purchases on campus, please be prepared to pay via bank card or payment app.
