Submit everything and turn up to every exam (unless you have extenuating circumstances)

If you don't, you could end up failing the whole module. You can resit or resubmit later but your module mark could be capped at 40.

Submit everything on time

If you don't (and you don't have extenuating circumstances) you will get a late penalty or no mark at all. We hate doing this and you're wasting precious marks.

Properly indicate and reference all your sources

We need to know what's your work and what isn't. It can be easy to accidentally make a mistake and forget your quotation marks. You could get a penalty for poor academic practice and, again, you're wasting marks.

Use the extenuating circumstances system but only if you need it

If you're not really being impacted by illness or other difficulties, and you're looking to use the Late Summer Assessment period to finish your work, then don't. You might be taking an unnecessary risk. If you're ill or you fail in August, you might not be able to continue on to the next year on time or finish your degree on time if you're in your final year.

Don't make this mistake in your first year

Make sure you're doing enough! Your first year doesn't count towards your final degree mark but what you learn now underpins what you'll learn later and, anyway, you'll need to get a pass mark to stay with us for your second year.
