What our students say

"As an engineering student with a very busy timetable, I really appreciate the help from Unitemps in getting a part-time job that I enjoy and I am good at.”

"Unitemps facility is based right in the heart of campus. The staff are friendly and always helpful. During my time as a self-funded PhD student at Surrey, I managed to find several temporary jobs which have helped me pay towards my studies. If it wasn't for Unitemps, I would have struggled immensely to pay for my studies."

Cost of living support

We know that your financial challenges are greater than ever this year. Rising costs of bills, food and transport are affecting us all.

If you are looking for part-time work to support your increasing costs, we recommend having a look at our let's talk finance hub for advice, support and information about what the University and the Students' Union is doing to help you save money.

International students

As an international student there are restrictions on the number of hours you are allowed to work, as outlined by the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA). Find out more on the UKCISA website.

Student ambassadors

The Student Ambassador Scheme supports UK/EU student recruitment and marketing, international student recruitment and widening participation and outreach.

The student ambassador role is available to all undergraduate and postgraduate students and is paid and designed to fit flexibly around your academic studies. You may find yourself representing the University at on-campus events, such as applicant days and campus tours or at off-campus events such as higher education fairs and school presentations.

Self-employment and Student Enterprise

Want to try your hand at entrepreneurship or develop your business skills further? The Student Enterprise team offers a range of activities and initiatives. They can advise on sources of funding your business idea or highlight the opportunities available to give running a business a go, often as part of a team in a national competition. The Enterprise Centre and studio offer office and retail space for running new businesses.

Volunteering

If you have not worked before and wish to build up experience, ask our Student Employability Team about volunteering.

The University of Surrey Students' Union also offers several volunteering opportunities including both internally and also externally, working within the local community.
