Tonmeister Financial Hardship Fund

Emeritus Professor Dave Fisher set up the Tonmesiter Financial Hardship Fund, also known as the Dave Fisher Fund, in Autumn 2022 to support Tonmeister students on their placement year.
Am I eligible to apply?
If you are a current Undergraduate Tonmeister (BSc or BMus), and you are a student on your Placement Training Year (PTY) in an unpaid placement, then you are eligible to apply for the fund.
How much funding could I receive?
Every application received is considered case-by-case, meaning the amounts students receive will vary depending on their need. On average most students receive less than £500.
How is the Tonmeister Financial Hardship Fund different to the Universities Hardship Fund?
The University wide Hardship Fund is designed to support any student in need and is intended to be the last resort for students in financial hardship and is closely linked to the cost of living. For more information on this please view the Hardship Fund page. The Tonmeister Financial Hardship Fund is more closely linked to expanding students experience in the Music and Sound industry whilst on their placement.
How can I apply?
To apply for funding from the Tonmeister Financial Hardship Fund please complete this online form. You will then be contacted by someone who will discuss your application personally, likely face-to-face or via a videocall. This discussion will either lead to funding being given and an amount will be discussed and agreed with yourself at this time. Or you will be told you if you are unsuccessful at this time. You can apply again if unsuccessful with different reasoning or at another time during your placement year.
Who to contact?
Please contact Senior Lecturer John Warburton if you have any queries about applying for the fund.
