Borrowing from other libraries

Access other libraries across the UK and worldwide.

Academic libraries

The Society of College, National and University Libraries (SCONUL) Access scheme allows you to access other academic libraries.

Borrowing facilities are available for the following categories of students:

  • Postgraduate research students registered for a PhD, DBA, PsychD, MPhil or similar qualification
  • Part-time and distance-learning students at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Full-time taught postgraduates
  • Students on placement of more than six weeks
  • For full-time undergraduates: reference access only is available through the scheme.

Visit SCONUL Access to view details of participating libraries and their catalogues, and to submit an application online.

Once your request has been validated, you will be given a SCONUL Access email. Print out this email and take it when you visit the participating libraries.

Interlibrary loans

If you need to access material that is not available in the University Library, you may be able to request an interlibrary loan.
