We asked members of Team Surrey to share their highlights from a fantastic event at Surrey Sports Park.

Ravi Kant, VP Activity, Surrey Students' Union
"My favourite moment was the trophy lift. It was an immense honour to lift the Varsity trophy on behalf of 17,000 students here at Surrey!"

Georgina Agnies, Director of University Sport
"My favourite part of Varsity 2025 was seeing the Arena fill up with so many volleyball and cheerleading fans! The sound of 1,000 students banging together their Team Surrey thunder sticks was just incredible."

Charlie Mascall, Team Surrey Participation & Competition Sport Manager
"There were so many highlights, from the huge 14-0 win by the mixed squash team to the sensational 63-43 win for Surrey women's basketball. But the most memorable moment was the finale, which drew a crowd of more than 1,000 students (with another 600 watching the live stream) for the women's volleyball and performances by the dance squad and Surrey Angels cheerleaders."

Matt Aikin, VP Community, Surrey Students' Union
“It was a great atmosphere at the fan zone all day, with the sun shining, music playing, and everyone having a great time!”

Jordan Hunt, Team Surrey women's basketball coach
"This season has been a tough one for the women’s basketball team, playing against some very good teams in the league this year. Despite that, they kept turning up enthusiastic and ready to play every game. Whether it was a heartbreakingly close loss or a big one, these women never gave up and never stopped showing up. This why our win at Varsity so huge for me. With a good amount of final years playing the final game, they came out firing and intense, which ended up being a 20 point win for us. The biggest success, however, was when I looked down the bench and every single person had a massive smile the whole game supporting their teammates."

Maciej Michalak, Team Surrey volleyball head coach
"This year we had were treated with a great opportunity to play the Varsity showcase. The game and atmosphere were electric! So many magical moments and the biggest crowd we have ever played in front of. We were able to show beauty of volleyball, and I hope we showed that volleyball is not only a great sport to play but also very entertaining to watch, and maybe even inspired people to try volleyball. The Varsity game had everything - a great show, great crowd, and by far best game I have witnessed as Team Surrey coach. We were left emotional but bit disappointed that we did not win in end [Bears won 3-2]. Thanks again to everyone who made this opportunity possible  - we loved it!

"It was so great to see so many non-sporting students out enjoying the extra activities we had at Surrey Sports Park and showing support for their peers."

Rob Beaumont, Team Surrey squash coach
"Surrey Squash topped off a very competitive year with a dominant win at Varsity 2025 over Royal Holloway. The Stags took wins in every match making it a 14-0 whitewash in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. I'm proud to see such a performance from our players after a year of very hard work. Everybody played with great spirit and sportsmanship throughout."
