Meet the couples

  • Sheba and Corina
Dancing the Cha, Sheeba (R) and Corina (L).

Sheeba is a Management and Business PhD student here at Surrey. Living with flat feet, Sheeba often finds standing up for long periods of time painful. They want to challenge themselves, and what better way to do that than with Strictly Come Surrey!

Corina has been an active member of University of Surrey Ballroom & Latin Dance Club, and has been involved with Strictly Come Surrey since 2018! Now they are working in the University's Advancement Team after graduating from Surrey in Sport and Exercise Science.
  • Michael and Maia
Dancing the Jive, Michael Hassell (L) and Maia Radwanski (R).

Mike works at the University as an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor. Frequently found in the clubs in the 80s and 90s, Mike is looking forward to their upcoming Jive performance in Strictly Come Surrey 2025.

Maia is a first-year Psychology student here at Surrey. They wanted to try a different style of competition from the ones that the University of Surrey Ballroom & Latin Dance Club usually participates in. Maia was born in Singapore but grew up in Texas after being adopted by a British family!
  • Belen and Harrison
Dancing the Paso, Dr Belen Marti-Cardona (L) and Harrison Pagett (R).

Dr Belen is an Associate Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering here at Surrey. They have a passion for dancing but are never able to fulfil it. However, this is all about to change with Strictly Come Surrey 2025!

Harrison is a Mechanical Engineering Master's graduate from Surrey, currently working with offshore subsea projects. They have been with the University of Surrey Ballroom & Latin Dance Club since 2023. Aside from ballroom, Harrison enjoys cycling and has 20 bikes!
  • Lucy and Ravi
Dancing the Quickstep, Ravi Kant (R) and Lucy Payne (L).

Ravi is the current Surrey Students' Union VP Activity and has studied their Master's in Business Analytics here. As someone who has always loved dancing and bringing people together through events such as Strictly Come Surrey 2025, Ravi decided this was the best opportunity to get involved! They are being cheered along by their close friends.

Lucy graduated from Surrey in 2022 with a Law degree and is currently working as a paralegal, specialising in property law. They enjoy dancing and teaching, so Strictly Come Surrey is the best way to combine the two! Having danced for most of their life, Lucy has always enjoyed dancing in shows. Outside of dancing, Lucy likes to repair second-hand dresses.
  • Jiyeon and Ioanna
Dancing the Rumba, Jiyeon Choi (L) and Ioanna Pavlopoulou (R).

Jiyeon is a current Surrey student studying on the MFA Acting course. They wanted to challenge themselves and thought no better way than to do so than with Strictly Come Surrey 2025. Jiyeon cannot live without music and always has their earphones with them!

Ioanna is a 2nd year Automotive Engineering student here at Surrey. They wanted to challenge themselves with varying choreography and teaching. Despite being from a dancing background, Ioanna only started Ballroom and Latin at university with the University of Surrey Ballroom & Latin Dance Club.
  • James and Chloe
Dancing the Viennese Waltz, James Warren (L) and Chloe Boniface (R).

James is currently studying Maths and was nominated to participate in Strictly Come Surrey by the majority of University of Surrey Big Band (James is the society president)! Having done some Ballet and Tap dance before, Ballroom and Latin is a new style for James.

Chloe is a 2nd-year Children's Nursing student here at Surrey. They want to pass on their passion for dancing to others. Dance helps Chloe to de-stress. Chloe has been dancing for 12 years, taking dancing examinations in the past! In their spare time, Chloe enjoys sewing and has made some of their own clothes.
  • Emma and Chris
Dancing the Waltz, Chris Steer (R) and Emma Slade (L).

Chris works at the University as a Senior Disability Advisor within the Disability and Neurodiversity Team. Over the past several years, Chris has had a difficult time with their mental health; however, things have been picking up over the last year, and Chris wants to celebrate this recovery and aid their mental health going forward.

Emma graduated from Surrey in 2022 with a Maths degree. This is Emma’s 6th year of Strictly Come Surrey! Now, Emma is working in insurance but is continuing to dance competitively.
