Nominations open for Sustainability Awards

These awards aim to celebrate and recognise individual students, societies and clubs who are going above and beyond to embed sustainability into our University and local community.

Awards will be presented at your Students' Union Colours and Union Ball.

The award categories

There are four categories available: 

  • Sustainability Hero: recognising a student who has gone above and beyond to embed sustainability at the University and in the community. Their actions embrace sustainability in all forms and have made significant impact over the last year.
  • Sustainable Society of the Year: awarded to a society that has made significant strides in decreasing its environmental impact over the last year. They have gone beyond sustainable actions within the Sustainability Mark to make an impactful contribution to sustainability at Surrey.  
  • Sustainable Club of the Year: awarded to a club that has made significant strides in decreasing its environmental impact over the last year. They have gone beyond sustainable actions within the Sustainability Mark to make an impactful contribution to sustainability at Surrey.
  • Best Sustainable Project: awarded to a student-led project that has made a positive, sustainable impact to the local community over the last year. 

How to submit a nomination

The closing date for entries is Monday 7 April 2025. You can nominate yourself, a society, club or peer via the online form

UN Sustainable Development Goals

The University is embedding the UN Sustainable Development Goals into everything it does. The Sustainability Awards celebrates this and raises the importance of SDG 13 - 'climate action'.
