Changes to parking permits: what you need to know

If you are an existing parking permit holder, or looking to apply for a permit for the 2024/25 academic year, you should be aware of the upcoming changes to our parking permit provider.

Published:

We are pleased to announce that we will welcome a new parking management supplier to campus this September. Parkingeye, who deliver leading car park management services across the UK, will take over from TotalPark to provide the University parking solution starting Monday 23 September.

While we complete this transition, there are some things that you need to know and do over the coming weeks.

What you need to know

  • There will be no parking charges in our permit car parks from today through to Sunday 22 September, therefore from you no longer need any credit on your TotalPark account. Please do not top up your TotalPark account any further.
  • You have until Monday 2 September to apply for a refund of any existing credit on your account. You can find information about how to do this below.
  • This change does not affect our pay and display car parks, which continue to be managed by RingGo and will be chargeable as normal throughout this interim period.
  • You will need to set up a new parking permit and online account with Parkingeye. Information about this is available below, but has also been emailed to all existing permit holders.

Action: apply for a refund on your TotalPark account

If you have credit on your current TotalPark account, you can easily apply for a refund on their online portal using the instructions below. Please ensure you do this before Monday 2 September.

  1. Visit the TotalPark portal and login.
  2. Click the “My PAYG balance” button on the top right of the screen.
  3. Click the purple “Request Refund” button.
  4. Confirm that you are happy to process the refund.
  5. After submitting your request, please allow 5-10 working days for the refund to be processed. The refund will be credited back to the bank account you used to top up your parking credit.

If you have an outstanding balance on your account, you do not need to settle this balance.

Guidance for Registering and Logging into the New Parking Portal

If you are experiencing issues with registering or logging in to make a parking application, please follow these steps:

  1. Registration:
    • When registering for the portal, you must use your named email address. For example, t.test@surrey.ac.uk.
  2. Logging In:
    • After registering, the system requires you to log in using your numerical sign-in address (e.g., to0001@surrey.ac.uk), which is the same email address you use to access your computer.

This process is in place due to Single Sign-On (SSO) requirements as advised by Parking Eye. If you continue to encounter issues, please contact MySurrey Help for further assistance.
