If you are a student with a work or study year abroad opportunity, TravelCert is the University's insurance service through which you receive a level of insurance during your time overseas. If you are planning an overseas trip as part of your course, you should first of all register with TravelCert.
Once registered you can then request coverage for each of the trips you are undertaking whilst studying at the University.
Completing TravelCert will provide you with an insurance cover note for your trip and let you store emergency contact details and there is no cost to students for this insurance.
Once an individual trip is logged, a confirmation email with the cover note attached will be sent to you. If a trip is not compliant with policy i.e. to a restricted territory or needs referral, a clarification email will be issued to you advising you to contact the Insurance Office. In these cases, you may be asked to arrange your own insurance and this would incur additional cost. You can check for up-to-date information on your destination country using the on the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) or the AIG Travel Assistance website. You will be required to input your university email address and the University’s Policy Number 0010016168.
