Undergraduate programmes

If you are an undergraduate student, you need to obtain the following overall percentages to reach your desired grade:

  • Below 40% - fail

  • 40% - 49% - third

  • 50% - 59% - 2:2

  • 60% - 69% - 2:1

  • 70% or over - first

Classification outcomes are outlined within our A1: Regulations for taught programmes.

If you are a graduating undergraduate student on an Honours or Integrated Masters degree programme, and your award classification result falls within 2% of a degree classification boundary, you may, subject to Professional, Statutory or Regulatory Body (PSRB) requirements, be considered for a classification uplift. In such cases, we will review your academic performance at your final level of study and consider eligibility for this.

Postgraduate programmes (FHEQ Level 7 modules)

If you are a postgraduate student, you need to obtain the following overall percentages to reach your desired level:

  • Below 50% – fail

  • 50% - 59% - pass

  • 60% - 69% - merit

  • 70% or over - distinction

For BVMSci Veterinary Medicine and Science (FHEQ Level 4, 5, 6 and 7 modules) the pass mark is 50%.
