Just as when you study at Surrey, students are responsible for the cost of accommodation, travel and living expenses. How much it will cost for you to work or study abroad depends on a number of factors, including:

  • Accommodation

  • Travel costs

  • Insurance - additional medical insurance in some countries

  • Visa (if applicable)

  • Living expenses, e.g. food

  • Other costs, e.g. study books

Some countries (e.g. the USA) require proof that you have sufficient funds to cover your time abroad. You will need to ensure you find out what the current requirements are and have proof that you have sufficient funds.

There are a number of competitive grants and scholarships available that students can apply for. These are prioritised to students from disadvantaged or widening participation groups. Students can find out more, including whether they are eligible to apply for grant funding, on Surrey Abroad.
