How to use AI to support your revision

  • Plan a Revision Timetable

If you struggle to organise your time, why not let AI help you?

By telling AI your subjects and modules you need to revise, when your exams are and how many hours of the day are available, AI can produce a weekly revision timetable for you. You can then refine the timetable by giving information about how often you’d like a break, times when you’re unavailable and topics that need more time.

  • Create flashcards or other revision tools

Use AI to take your revision notes to the next level. Paste your lecture notes into My AI Surrey and ask it to create revision materials that work best for you. For example, you can ask for a short summary, revision cards or a mind map.

  • Improve your practice exam answers

By attaching past paper questions and mark schemes to your conversation with AI, it can support you in improving your answers. You can use AI to give you feedback on your answer, re-write it at a higher level or even just give a hint, rather than the full answer.

Guidance for using AI for assessments

We want you to feel confident in using AI to support your learning. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

  • Think critically when using AI

You’re in control here! AI doesn’t get things right 100% of the time and we’d encourage you to tell AI when something doesn’t look right. And remember, it’s always you who has the final judgement.

  • Declare your use of AI tools

We’re encouraging you to use AI thoughtfully and where it adds value to your learning, so you don’t need to hide it. Follow the ACT guidelines and find out more about how to declare your use of AI.

  • Check AI’s sources

AI can get things wrong – whether it’s using an outdated source, misunderstanding a concept or using opinion pieces rather than credible articles. By checking AI’s sources, you can make sure information is accurate and from reputable sources.

  • Do not share sensitive information

Even though My AI Surrey is more secure than other AI tools, it’s still best not to include any personal, confidential or sensitive information.
