Our Shoes Training - Young Carers (Student Carers)

We’re pleased to share an opportunity from Surrey County Council’s Our Shoes training programme, which is expanding and looking to recruit new paid young trainers (aged 16–25). We’re especially keen to hear from students within the Student Carers network.

Our Shoes is a lived-experience training programme, co-designed and delivered by young people. It helps professionals better understand the realities of young people’s lives and how to offer more effective, compassionate support.

Current training topics include:

  • Young Carers
  • Young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Additional Needs & Disabilities (AND)
  • LGBTQ+ experiences
  • Care-experienced young people and care leavers

As a trainer, you’ll:

  • Share your lived experience to shape meaningful training
  • Build confidence, skills, and experience for your CV
  • Meet other inspiring young people
  • Be paid for the training you deliver

If you’re a carer and want to help professionals better understand and support young people like you, we’d love you to get involved.
